How Do Our Lessons Work?
Discover why our lessons are so successful!
WEEKLY HOME PRACTICE PLAN: We have an amazing app that we use to have the most effective and fun experience! Students are given a weekly assignment. At home during the week they (1) watch the video, (2) print out the music or use their iPad to read music and can even (3) play along with “The Band” backing track! The app also gives them points for practicing and they are rewarded for points earned!
WEEKLY ONLINE LESSON EXPERIENCE: We meet weekly online for up to 30 minutes in our group class. The format of our online experience is as follows:

- LESSON TIME: 2 students login. During this first 15 minutes of lesson one student plays for the teacher while the other student warms up in the online waiting room. Then they swap positions. After the game the first 2 students log off and the other 2 students have their lesson playing time.
- GAME TIME: The next 15 minutes 2 additional students log on and the 4 students play a game, compose etc. We also look on the Leaderboard to see who has the most practice points! Students are rewarded during this time.
SCHEDULE EXAMPLE:
3:00pm - 3:15pm Student 1 and 2 log on. Student 1 plays and Student 2 warms up. Then the students swap places.
3:15pm - 3:30pm Student 3 and 4 log on. The 4 students play a game, compose or do a variety of fun activities together.
3:30pm - 3:45pm Student 1 and 2 logs off while Student 3 and 4 have their lesson time.
Rewards!
On the app students receive virtual stickers and when the app hears them playing it rewards them with practice points! The students love to see who is at the top of the “Practice Leader Board.” Students earn studio bucks for practicing, turning in videos, winning games and so much more! Studio bucks earn students gift cards which they absolutely love and cannot wait to receive in the mail!

Our 9 year old has been taking piano lessons from Mrs. Tomilee for the last 3 years. This last year we have been completely online and find that it is a great fit for our family. We like having all the lessons and feedback online to refer to during the week, and our daughter loves the class zoom time each week to practice theory with her classmates. We love the lessons that Ms.Tomilee Deatherage provides online. Each lesson is demonstrated on video that is easy for the student to follow and for us to support in practice time. Our granddaughter started studio lessons in February but we decided to move to online lessons due to Covid concerns. Ms. Tomilee has an excellent program that has helped our granddaughter learn quickly and enjoy her lessons. At eight years old she chooses to practice and loves to play for her family and class zoom meetings. We highly recommend Ms. Tomilee and her Bidwell School of Music.
