Piano Lessons the Fun Way
6 - 14 yrs
Piano Fun! Ages 6 -14
Group atmosphere allowing students to move at their own pace!
45 Minute Lesson = 4-5 Students come at the same time for their weekly lesson
Each student has their own keyboard, i-pad and headphones to use during class.
Why Is Our Piano Lessons An Excellent Option For Your Child?
1. Lessons are 45 minutes each week! Almost double the amount of the traditional lesson time moving at their own pace.
2. Our Game-Style approach to learning piano has dramatically improved student's sight-reading skills, which is the #1 key to learning music quickly, making piano fun!
3. Home practice is now about review and increasing speed rather than dreading the "NEW" pieces. It is a confidence builder. Teacher can also monitor student's practice time! Fun practice tools!
4. Fun, exciting games and music software!
5. Students move through their levels faster because they are excited to get more practice points and know it is necessary to move forward. They must receive that trophy to move forward!
6. More Performance & Ensemble opportunities!
7. Meet new music friends! Children watching their peers working diligently is inspiring and encourages students to work even harder. Each student is also rewarded and recognized in front of their peers for their individual goals achieved.
8. Prizes and rewards are the norm! We are all about rewarding students for reaching short term and long-term goals!
9. Piano Band Time! Students love playing along with the other students having a different sound on each of their keyboards or maybe it's a drum ensemble or another acoustic instrument to explore. It is what music is all about! Sharing and playing together! Real life application!
10. Creativity is an important aspect of our music adventure. Students should all learn to create and experiment in their own way with music.
How Does It Work?
The first few minutes the teacher walks around hearing students play and instructs. Students warm up on songs that the teacher will be hearing from the current week's assignment and will watch a video of the upcoming piece they will be playing during the following week. As soon as the teacher instructs the student they may begin playing through pieces they will be practicing at home for the next week. Our lesson structure positions students for a happy practice time at home. Students will leave feeling confident.
Our lessons are 45-minutes instead of a traditional 30-minute lesson. More in class practice time which means more confidence with home practice. Students work at their own pace, on their own level. Different ages and levels within each lesson time slot.
The last 15-30 minutes of the class usually calls for “Piano Band” time, FUN Review Games or an activity to reinforce composing, theory, ear training or rhythm concepts. “Piano Band” time is an opportunity for students to play a piece together. Each keyboard is set to a different instrument sound and they jam together in the band! The students LOVE this time together!
We will also hold practice challenges and receive many rewards along our musical journey. We have long and short-term goals! Why should piano be anything but fun? Well, it doesn't have to be and it is definitely not in our Piano Lesson Adventure!

Our Methods:
Note Reading:
We have a unique note-reading method with a strong emphasis on rhythm and technic. It teaches students to be sound in every area of piano performance.
We found many methods to be weak in the bass clef and most students never learn to really count the notes well or to feel the music.
With our method students learn to count, feel the rhythms, read notes quickly and accurately through an intervallic approach.
Creative Playing:
Our method includes step by step instruction on playing songs without depending solely on reading notes but rather learning patterns, chord playing, playing by ear, composing and knowing how to play creatively on acoustic & electronic keyboards.
This has definitely been a skill the owner, Tomilee, has used most and has been the biggest blessing in her musical journey. Students that have a desire to play along with a band, play gospel style church music, or play popular songs using chords or picking out the song on their own, will fall in love with this course!
Not many studio teachers know the theory behind playing creatively so you will find most students in other studios are taught to read notes only. Creativity is a wonderful skill and a priority at Bidwell School of Music! With technology, at the forefront in our world today, we also believe it should be part of their music study.
My 9 year old daughter has been taking lessons at Bidwell school of music for about six months now and absolutely loves it. She’s learned so much already in such a short amount of time. Tomilee genuinely cares for all her students and their progress. She makes all the lessons fun with realistic goals the kids get excited about reaching. My daughter looks forward to her keyboard lessons every time. I highly recommend this school. Brenda Sivertson
