Here is a little lengthy message to insure success on our musical journey. Organized lessons with the CORRECT APP, incentives and having fun activities are a priority with us! We look forward to meeting all our online students!
First, we download the app!
Once the studio app has been downloaded from the App Store we tap on the blue link labeled LOGIN and enter in our username and password which the teacher provides you. This is where the magic begins with online lesson success!
What can students do within the app?
View Assignments – As soon as you login you will see each assignment listed. Each assignment has a pdf, video and backing track.
Earn Practice Points – If a student pushes “Let’s Practice” the app can hear them play and actually gives them practice points. At the end of each lesson the teacher awards the student with studio bucks that are used towards gift cards! The goal is just to practice and get on the practice “Leader Board”that is inside the app. However, if you are up for the challenge then try to be that student that gets the most practice points in your group! Be at the top of the class “Leader Board!” You will get even more studio bucks for being at the top of the board! I know you want to earn a gift card as soon as possible.
Watch lesson videos – Every song and fun sheet has a video explaining exactly how to practice the song or complete the worksheet! Then once you learn your song well you can play along with the backing track that we call “Playing with the Band.”
Print worksheets – Most students practice right from their devices but we do have students who print the music or fun sheets and put them in a practice binder. My preferred method is to use my iPad to read my music. However, you must print the worksheets:)
Send the teacher pictures and videos – The student needs to send a video of each song practiced every week to the teacher. They will also need to send a picture of their worksheets. The teacher then responds back with areas that may need a little more work or you may have a new song added to your assignment! Hurray! Look for those digital stickers as well! When you do a great job a sticker is added to your message center! We are organized and efficient with our lessons. Wait! We are also a ton of fun!
Receive messages and send messages – Parents or students can send messages to the teacher. It’s so easy! You can send a typed message or a voice memo. The teacher also sends out messages to parents and students through the app. Communication is important and this app makes it a piece of cake!
WEEKLY HOME GOALS:
- Print the music before practicing or sign in on your mobile device to get started!
- Parents/Students find and set a routine practice plan. Practice 3-4 times each week.
- Begin Practicing – Play the assigned songs 3-5 times each day depending on the age of student😀 Push that blue “Let’s Practice” button and rack up those points! I wonder who will have the most practice points in your group! You know the teacher always checks the leaderboard! The more points you have the more studio bucks you will earn! If you are #1 in your group you even get more studio bucks!
- Send your weekly video of the student playing each assigned song for evaluation and response from teacher.
- Print your worksheet. Complete it. Now send your weekly pictures of all the students completed worksheets to the teacher. All videos should be sent to the teacher by Wed at 12:00pm.
WEEKLY ONLINE TIME WITH THE TEACHER:
- PERFORM- Students play one piece for everyone in their group. It should be one from their current assignment or one they have already passed.
- ACTIVITY – We do an activity together. We play games, rhythm fun, composing and more!
- REWARDS – Students get rewarded for (1) Online class attendance, (2) Tonara practice points in the app,(3) Winning game(4) Sending in their videos before online time.
